This panel seeks to explore collaborative ideas and frameworks to develop partnerships that support international programs that are inclusive, integrative and innovative. Digital technologies are providing students with an exclusive opportunity to connect with peers worldwide to acquire new knowledge and skills, exchange ideas and cultures, and develop connections vital for success in the 21st century. At the same time, there is an urgent need to engage students in addressing global challenges such as the UN SDGs. This panel draws on the experiences of universities including members of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) working together to provide unique student experiences in virtual environments. What have been the major lessons learned? What are the opportunities for virtual programs to shape our internationalization agenda? What is the future of virtual student exchange? Learning Objectives: • To learn about the frameworks and models used in virtual programs, consider what has worked and what has not, and the merits of international partnerships in developing such programs. • To highlight the value of international collaboration among universities and with the international community in addressing global challenges. Target Audience: People working on international programming, student mobility, student integration, sustainability and other global challenges. Target Audience Level: Intermediate

Biography

Dr. Ram is currently Director of the Office of International Affairs and Global Network (OIA) at Chulalongkorn University, where he oversees and directs three divisions in support of the University’s key strategies, i.e., Future Leaders, Impactful Research and Innovation, and Sustainability. His office is responsible for international relations activities, academic exchange programs, student and staff mobilities, research and innovation promotions, and global network partnerships.

Biography

Mellissa Withers, PhD, MHS is Associate Professor at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California, where she is also director of the Online MPH Program and director of the APRU Global Health Program. Her research interests are mental health, sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence.
