All are invited to join the Opening Ceremony and experience a traditional Thai welcome followed by a Plenary discussion with Asia Pacific leaders. The Plenary will focus on the region’s emergence from disruptions of the recent past, and the subsequent impact on the higher education sector of the Asia Pacific.

Professor Sarah Todd is the current President of APAIE and Vice President (Global) at Griffith University. Prior to joining Griffith, she was the inaugural Pro Vice Chancellor (International) at the University of Otago, and Professor of Marketing and Academic Dean at Otago's Business School. Professor Todd sits on the board of the International Education Association of Australia (IEAA), and serves as a member of the Association for Commonwealth Universities (ACU) International Steering Group.

Professor Banchong Mahaisavariya completed his medical degree, internship and residency training in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University in 1983. In 1993 he returned to Mahidol University as an Associate Professor, rising to become Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Vice President, and then President of Mahidol University.

Prinat is currently serving as Deputy Director-General at the Department of International Economic Affairs. Prior to this, Prinat was Director of ASEAN Strategy and Cooperation Division, Department of ASEAN Affairs. She has also served at the Royal Thai Embassy in Beijing and at the Royal Thai Embassy/Mission of Thailand to the European Union in Brussels. Prinat received her B.A. of Political Science/Economics from the University of Illinois, and her M.A. of International Relations and Ph.D. of International Relations from Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Roger Chao Jr. is currently Asst. Director/Head of Education, Youth and Sports at the ASEAN Secretariat. Since 2013, he has been engaged in the international education development sector in organizations including UNESCO, UNICEF, the European Commission, DAAD and the British Council. He has a PhD on Asian and International Studies from City University of Hong Kong, a European Masters in Lifelong Learning: Policy and Management from a consortium of institutions, and a Masters in Education (Mathematics) from the University of the Philippines.

Jen is the Counsellor (Education and Research) to the Australian Embassy, Hanoi, Vietnam, with responsibility to Vietnam and Thailand. Previously, Jen was the Director for International Education at TAFE Directors Australia. Jen has also worked within the Australian Government, leading education policy and program initiatives, with postings to the Australian Embassies in Beijing and Bangkok. Jen is passionate about enabling global engagement and exchange in education. Jen completed a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) at the University of Melbourne.
