Details

This presentation consists of the knowledge sharing of a new Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) program named “Virtual Asia Exploration (VAx)”, a 14-week online mobility program designed by the core members of Asia Technological University Network (ATU-Net) and offered to its member institutes throughout Asia. Though VAx is initially started as a countermeasure for travel restrictions by COVID-19, this program is constantly conducted because this program is highly beneficial, especially for locationally disadvantaged schools in developing regions. Its contents are diversified by 12 lecturers from 6 hosting universities in 5 countries (Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, The Philippines, and Japan). The first and second batches of the program (May - August 2022 & September – December 2022), are completed with favourable results of 88 and 102 students awarded with certificates. Now, VAx is offered as an annual regular course. Third batch is scheduled from September until December 2022. Unprecedented collaborative efforts amongst all organizing members have seen the extension to other areas including other new individual mobility programs and international co-publications. Participants of this presentation are invited to the next batch in autumn 2023. Syllabus and major course materials are provided so that similar program is easily replicated. Learning Objectives: In addition to the sharing of the following learning objectives and outcomes, participants are invited to join Batch 4 in 2023 and onward. • To design and deliver new collaborative online international learning (COIL) program with actual materials for lectures such as syllabus, poster, group works, assignments, final presentations, assessment tools, certificates, transcripts, and Google Classroom. All templates are provided to the interested participants; • To measure the expected outcomes, actual results, and expansion of the program benefits and highlight the reason of VAx selected as annual program • To discuss on the management methods of an international organizing team from multiple universities, in this case, a total of 12 lecturers from 6 universities in 5 countries that lead to multiple consequential benefits, including international collaborative publications at conferences such as APAIE. Target Audience: • Officers in charge of coordinating international mobility programs regardless of the costs and time. • Professors and lecturers who are willing to work with other countries’ colleagues for collaborative lectures and/or publications. • Directors and principals responsible for international collaboration • Higher institutions in remote areas are suggested to attend. Target Audience Level: Beginner, Intermediate
