Details

Join the three major English language test providers, IELTS, PTE and TOEFL, alongside RMIT University as they discuss opportunities and innovations in the student recruitment landscape. New testing modalities have been developed in an environment characterised by an urgency to stave off COVID challenges and to support sustainable recruitment opportunities. Lockdowns, border closures, and health concerns in the past three years disrupted test centre networks, creating ongoing challenges for student recruitment and mobility efforts. In this session, you will gain insights into recent test developments and discuss the ways high stakes English test providers have individually and collectively adapted, continue to innovate, and support education institutions with enhanced security features to ensure confidence in test results. Improved and enhanced testing solutions provide scale and access for student recruitment, mobility and admissions teams worldwide. Attendees will gain a better understanding of the suitability of different test types and designs, the online testing landscape, and how to assess the suitability of various tests for applicants’ intended academic study. This session will provide a 360 view incorporating admissions, recruitment and test providers as we collectively work towards a sustainable international education sector recovery. Learning Objectives: • Participants will learn about best practice in high stakes English testing from the three major test providers, understanding the details of various test characteristics, build familiarity with test centre vs remote proctored / at home testing solutions, and the online test landscape for test takers to navigate • Gain confidence and trust in remote proctored test solutions with a focus on how technology and innovations are improving fraud detection and on-going enhancements in test security features • Learn how research commissioned by IEAA is assisting education providers to measure and make accurate decisions about high stakes English tests for admissions.
