Metformin in type 1 diabetes

Dr Snaith is a Staff Specialist Endocrinologist and leads the young adult diabetes transition service at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney. In her PhD studies, she performed hyperinsulinaemic-euglycaemic clamps to quantify and phenotype muscle and liver insulin resistance in type 1 diabetes and determine the effect of metformin on insulin resistance in type 1 diabetes. Her main clinical interest is the intersection between type 1 diabetes, metabolic and cardiovascular health. She is involved in the conduct of adjunctive therapies clinical trials in type 1 diabetes through the Garvan Institute of Medical Research. Active or completed RCTs include the INTIMET study (metformin), RESET1 (semaglutide), TIRTLE (tirzepatide). Jen’s post-doctoral work is a supported by JDRF Australia.
