Feasibility and Validity of In-Home Self-Collected Capillary Blood Spot Screening for Type 1 Diabetes Risk

Biography

John Wentworth is an endocrinologist and diabetes researcher at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute. With Peter Colman and Michelle So, he leads Type1Screen, a national platform offering screening for type 1 diabetes risk and support for those who test positive. He is part of the multinational TrialNet consortium that in June 2022 announced results of a clinical trial demonstrating that immune therapy can delay the onset of type 1 diabetes. He currently leads the Australiasian T1D Immunotherapy Collaborative that aims to accelerate development of T1D prevention through increased clinical trial activity throughout Australia.

Levi is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Medicine, and Academic Lead in rural health research for Bathurst Rural Clinical School, Western Sydney University. Levi is a conjoint in Charles Sturt University, NSW, and the University of KwaZulu Natal, Durban South Africa. He is the convener of two research groups, the Center for Public Health Intervention Initiative (CEPHII, South Africa) and the African Translational Research Group (Nigeria) which brings together renowned African Public Health Researchers across the globe.
