Prof. Ritzel completed professional internships at the universities of Bochum and Heidelberg.
Since 2006, Robert Ritzel has worked as senior physician and deputy chief physician for internal medicine at the University of Heidelberg and, in addition to clinical endocrinology and diabetology, has been actively involved in interdisciplinary patient care. Since 2006, he has been head of the interdisciplinary outpatient clinic for internal medicine at the head hospital of Heidelberg University. Actively worked on scientific projects in centers in Germany and the USA.
In 2010, he became the chief physician of the department of endocrinology and diabetology at the University Hospital Schwabing in Munich.

Professor Dianna Magliano heads the Diabetes and Population Health Unit at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. She is interested in the use of large datasets, such as the National Diabetes Service Scheme, to advance understanding of diabetes trends to inform investment in health resources and enhance diabetes care.

Jessie is a research officer in the Diabetes and Vascular Medicine Laboratory at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. Her previous work focused on developing novel treatments preventing beta-cell failure. Her current research seeks to expand our knowledge in the prediction and prevention of diabetes complications.

Dr. Jeffrey Cannon is an early career researcher specialising in global disease burden, health economics, childhood health, Indigenous health, equality, and policy. His research interests lie in generating timely information on the full health, economic, and social burdens of disease and in developing and applying traditional and new epidemiology and economic models to facilitate policy decisions. Dr Cannon earned a PhD in Health Economics from the University of Western Australia in 2019 and previously received an Honours degree in Mathematics after a BSc (Mathematics) and BBus (Finance) dual degree.
