Biography

With a passion for empowering clients living with diabetes and advancing healthcare innovation, Angela Jin is a dedicated diabetes educator and nurse practitioner student working at RBWH. Currently pursuing advanced training in diabetes technology, Angela plays a vital role in guiding clients in the selection, utilisation, and optimisation of diabetes technology equipment, continuously seeking to enhance client outcomes and quality of life. In addition to clinical practice, Angela is actively engaged in professional development initiatives in pre-operative diabetes education for clients with type 3C diabetes, research endeavors in diabetes technology service improvement, and community outreach efforts at RBWH-QUT Partnership diabetes education program aimed at promoting health equity and fostering positive change within the healthcare landscape. Committed to excellence in diabetes care and dedicated to the well-being of every client, Angela exemplifies the values of integrity, compassion, and innovation in all aspects of care delivery.

Biography

Fran Brown is a Credentialled Diabetes Educator who completed her Registered Nurse training in 1988. Fran has completed studies in Health Program Evaluation and Health Promotion and Education, together with a Certificate in Diabetes Education. In 2023 she completed a Master of Advanced Nursing Practice (Nurse Practitioner). Fran established Melbourne Diabetes Education & Support in 2007. This private practice, consisting of three CDEs and two dietitians, is based in Heidelberg Heights, Melbourne. Fran has a special interest in diabetes technology and is a certified trainer in insulin pump therapy and continuous glucose monitoring systems. She enjoys working with people of all ages to help them understand and manage their condition, to live well, and to use advanced technologies to reduce the burden of diabetes. Fran was awarded Victorian CDE of the Year 2020. This is an award she is extremely proud of, as it represents her care and passion for her role as a Diabetes Educator.

Biography

Beck Newton has over 30 years health experience. She’s a Registered Nurse, Accredited Practising Dietitian and Credentialled Diabetes Educator with postgraduate qualifications in diabetes, mental health, health coaching and business. Beck currently sees patients in her private clinic EatLiveWell. She practises from the Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre (Stirling, Busselton), Margaret River and via Telehealth. Insulin resistance, pre-diabetes, type 1 diabetes, and type 2 diabetes are her main areas of focus. She has a special interest in metabolic health and uses a thoughtful, individualised approach to support these chronic health conditions. Beck also has experience in the field of mental health and the relationship between food and mood. She's also undertaken extensive training in eating disorders and is a Credentialled Eating Disorder Clinician with the Australian and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders

Biography

Sabrina joined the RPA Diabetes Centre in 2016 on a short-term secondment and quickly discovered her passion for chronic care, particularly diabetes. In 2019, she assumed the newly created role of Inpatient Diabetes Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) and has since been an integral part of the expanding Inpatient Diabetes Service. Currently, Sabrina is pursuing a Master of Nursing - Nurse Practitioner at Sydney University, having previously studied emergency nursing, diabetes management, and adult mental health. Her professional interests include diabetes care in mental health settings, aged care, complex and marginalized populations, and end-of-life diabetes care and bringing technology to these often hard to reach groups.

She is passionate about delivering comprehensive diabetes management and education to her patients. Additionally, Amy shares her expertise as a casual academic at the University of Technology Sydney, where she teaches in the Postgraduate Certificate in Diabetes Education and Management course.
