Biography

Samantha Stuk is an Accredited Practising Senior Dietitian with 15 years of clinical experience across the public and private sectors. She is currently a Senior Diabetes Dietitian at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, a Diabetes and Obesity research dietitian with the Austin Hospital, and runs her own private practice "The Nutrition Code". Samantha has represented Dietitians Australia in speaking and project roles related to diabetes on multiple occasions, and she is thrilled to present a second time at the ADC for 2024.

Biography

Mahnaz Aghabozorgi is a distinguished Accredited Practicing Dietitian and Credentialled Diabetes Educator with over 25 years of experience in both clinical and community dietetics. She was honoured with the 2019 Western Australian Credentialled Diabetes Educator of the Year Award in recognition of her exceptional contributions to the field. Currently, Mahnaz serves as a specialist diabetes dietitian with the multidisciplinary endocrinology and diabetes service at Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) in Perth. She has a robust background in the development and delivery of diabetes education services and provides expert dietetic education and counselling to individuals with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, spanning both adolescents and adults. Her extensive career includes roles in a variety of health organizations both internationally and within Perth's regional and metropolitan district and tertiary hospitals. Mahnaz collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, endocrinologists, diabetes educator nurses, dietitians, and other allied health professionals to support individuals living with diabetes across their lifespan. This includes working with patients from diverse cultural, religious, and linguistic backgrounds. Mahnaz is a key coordinator and facilitator of the South Metropolitan Health Services FSH SMaRT1E (Self-Management and Review of Type 1 Diabetes Education) program. Under her leadership, the SMaRT1E program has achieved notable recognition, winning the 2013 WA Health Award for Excellence in Empowering Patients and the Director General's Award in 2014.

Emma is a senior diabetes and endocrinology dietitian at The Royal Melbourne Hospital in Melbourne. She recently completed a Master of Public. She has worked extensively across the continuum of healthcare both in Australia and the United Kingdom.

Biography

Rachel McKeown is an Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian and Credentialled Diabetes Educator. She currently works at Mudgee Health Service, NSW in the role of diabetes educator. Rachel has over 15 years experience in the diabetes education field and has been an APD for over 20 years. She has worked in public and private health sectors, as well as NGOs. Her current client base involves the range of diabetes management and support for all ages in her community, and for all types of diabetes, working closely with GPs, remotely with Endocrinologists, allied health, nursing staff and linking in with tertiary services as required. Her previous role at the Australian Diabetes Educators Association as Professional Services and Education Manager included the development and revision of numerous diabetes related policies and guidelines, including national competencies for credentialled diabetes educators and the credentialling pathway.
