Professor Elizabeth Davis has had a career of integrating clinical care and diabetes research with the goal of improving outcomes for youth with diabetes. She is Head of the Department of Endocrinology at Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) and co-directs the Children’s Diabetes Centre, a JDRF global centre of excellence, at the Telethon Kids Institute. Professor Davis is a past President of the Australasian Paediatric Endocrine Group. She currently leads the Australasian hub of SWEET, an international paediatric diabetes initiative with the goal of improving outcomes for children with diabetes globally.

David E. Bloom is Clarence James Gamble Professor of Economics and Demography in the Department of Global Health and Population at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Professor Bloom is a labor and health economist and a demographer whose current research focuses mainly on the interplay of health, demographics, and economic wellbeing, and on health technology assessment. He is an elected Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. In 2023, Professor Bloom received the Population Association of America’s Irene B. Taeuber award in honor of his career research achievements.

Dr Ella Zomer is an Australian health economist, leading a program of research on economic evaluation and modelling in diabetes and cardiovascular disease. She is the Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease Program Lead in the Monash University Health Economics Group and Research Lead for the Australian Diabetes Clinical Quality Registry, School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University. Her research aims to establish the burden of disease and evaluate the economic benefits of new treatments and technologies. Her work has directly informed policy in the management and prevention of common chronic conditions to reduce premature death and disability, and benefit the Australian healthcare system and broader economy.

Biography
Prof. Sophia Zoungas, MBBS, FRACP, PhD, is the head of Monash University's School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, and leads the School's Diabetes Research Program. She is an endocrinologist with clinical appointments at both Alfred Health and Monash Health, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. She leads clinical and health services research groups and collaborates extensively both locally and internationally in the specialty area of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, and health aging. Sophia has over 250 publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Professor Tim Jones is the Director of Research at Perth Children’s Hospital after spending almost 20 years as the Head of the Department of Diabetes and Endocrinology, Perth Children’s Hospital. The Department of Diabetes and Endocrinology cares for all children with diabetes and endocrine disorders in Western Australia, is the only paediatric service designated as a Centre of Excellence by the National Association of Diabetes Centres and has an integrated clinical and research team. Professor Jones is also a Clinical Professor at the Telethon Kids Institute, University of Western Australia and Co-Director of the Children’s Diabetes Centre at the Telethon Kids Institute.
