Biography

Dr Anna Hurlimann is an Associate Professor of Urban Planning at the University of Melbourne, and Lead Chief Investigator on an Australian Research Council Discovery Grant 'Integrating climate change adaptation and mitigation in built environments' completed in January 2025. Anna's teaching and research focus on climate change and environmental planning.

Alejandro Bárcena is a researcher at IIED, whose research focuses on urban risk, adaptation politics, and governance in cities of Low- and Middle- Income Countries. His work examines how power, politics, and knowledge production shape adaptation pathways, with a strong focus on transdisciplinary research that bridges sciences, policy, and practice.
