Over 20 years, I have been actively involved in promoting socio-ecological justice through hands-on experience and academic research. I am an Anthropologist and Sociologist with advanced research methodologies on social and human sciences and social policies. I have worked as a development/humanitarian professional as well as board member for various projects.

The author is a second-year PhD candidate in Media and Communication, University of Canterbury. Her research focuses on climate change communication, digital activism, and social movement, with a special focus on Instagram. Prior to joining the program, she gained hands-on experience as a Communication Lecturer and communication consultant in Indonesia.

Tuning in to climate emotions: A participatory creative workshop for navigating eco-anxiety and eco-grief

Biography

Hannah Bayne is a PhD student in Public Health at the University of Alberta and science communicator about climate change and health. Her research explores the impacts of climate change on psychosocial well-being, using community, arts-based research to examine how music-making can address climate grief and anxiety. Stephanie Olsen completed her Master of Arts in Community Engagement in the School of Public Health at the University of Alberta. Her research focuses on effective interventions for supporting mental health in the face of climate change. Stephanie is also a facilitator with Refugia Retreats, an Alberta organization that provides programs addressing ecological grief and eco-anxiety. Sherilee Harper is a Professor and Canada Research Chair in Climate Change and Health at the University of Alberta. Her research explores the links between climate change and public health and she collaborates with partners to prioritise climate-related health actions. She is an IPCC Vice Chair WG1.
