Her current research focuses on adaptation and sustainability interventions in coastal communities; with study sites in Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Kenya.

Dr. Jane Symonds is a Senior Scientist and Team Leader of Finfish and Genetics at the Cawthron Institute, Nelson, New Zealand. She has over 30 years of experience in aquaculture breeding and genetics and has worked on multiple finfish and shellfish selective breeding programmes in New Zealand, Canada and Australia.
